Business Idea What is the idea? Instead of having regular horizontal farms, Dr. Despommier proposes that we create vertical agriculture in urban areas Some of the ways that vertical farming
would be more environmentally efficient would be:
less travel of the food and the consumer (cuts out the idea of "food miles")
When the population grows, there won't be enough land to grow food to sufficiently supply people with food, therefore this is one of the major alternatives
Is a good alternative in the case that the weather doesn't permit succesfully grown crops Vertical farms designed to feed the population of urban centers using energy, materials, space, and labor from within the city in a sustainable way. • Maintenance organizations – equipment has to be maintained.
