The Speaking Test
The Speaking Test is in three parts and is a one-to-one interaction between the candidate and the examiner.

The test is recorded.
The Speaking Test
First Part:
Introduction and interview

The test lasts
60 minutes.
General and Academic reading tests are on different topics.
There are three reading topics of 2000 - 2750 to read and forty questions to answer in 50 minutes.
The Reading Test
General and Academic candidates have the same test, which
lasts about 40 mins.
There are four sections to the test, which you will hear only once.
The Listening Test
Part One requires at least 150 words.
It is recommended that you spend no more than
twenty minutes on this part.

GENERAL TRAINING
Part One of the General Training test involves writing
a letter.

ACADEMIC
Part One of the Academic Test involves describing a graph or diagram.

Part Two
Part Two of both the General and the Academic tests involves a discursive essay.
Part Two requires at least 250 words.
It is recommended that you spend no more than forty minutes on this part.

Answer the question! Check you have the correct number of words.
Academic Part One: an overview and a concise description
General Training Part One: Appropriate letter style: typical expressions found in a letter and formal/informal style depending on the context.
Part Two: Paragraphing and structure
Arguments to support your point of view, with examples if possible.
Coherence
Lexical resource
Grammatical range and accuracy
