Transcript of Fire and Ice

By: Robert frost Fire and Ice Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice. Critical perspectives- Archetypal , structural Poetical Aspects Literary Aspects Religion vs. Science Scientist say the world will end in ice.

Religion says the world will end in fire. Fire(n)- A burning mass of material. Burning passion. Fever or inflammation. severe trial or trouble. luminous objects Ice(n)- Solid form of water, produced by freezing. any substance resembling water. reserve, formality.
Ice(v)- to make cold Religion has been seen to be a messenger between humans and gods. can represent things like Destruction, renewal, spirituality and damnation. God- Creator. Devil- Hell. DESIRE!! Abstract Is in Comets, asteroids. Deep open space. Freezing point. Ice is cold. In people Cold Heart (deep). HATE, Concrete Tone-Contemplative, Thoughtful. Deep thinking. Syntax- Short, long, short. Structural: A difference in structure. Different rhyme schemes. Hits the reader through the imagery for a better understanding. Concrete images to abstract ideas. imagery- fire/ ice= destruction. Taste, ending. Meter: The first line is iambic tetrameter as well as lines 3-7. the second line is in diameter as well as the last two lines. Rhyme: ABAA CDCDC masculine rhyme. This poem is more contemplative not really a setting. The speaker expresses two different idea such as fire (desire religion) and ice (science, hate) .
Religion says would end in fire. Fire could be seen as hell. If you look at it emotionally fire is related to desire. Desire (also religion) can cause corruption and destruction.
Science says world end in ice (ice age). Ice refers to ice age or space (dark, cold). Emotionally it could be referred to as cold-Heart,hate. Hate could cause violence and corruption. Violence obviously leads to destruction.
