Warm up
I hope you enjoyed the video!
Its great to see the language being used by native signers!

So, with that in mind and as a reminder for the rest of the year.....
YOU are in charge of your own learning. YOU make the choice to sign and to participate in class.
YOU choose to practice with us while in class.
YOU choose to watch and
pay attention.
Using the strip of paper you got, I want you to practice your fingerspelling. Spell out the paragraph to yourself.

Things to think about.....
*
pause between words
*
produce each letter clearly
*
double letters can "tap" or "slide"

So, I'm assuming that since y'all didn't sign much over the break, you probably forgot a lot. So, get out your journals and go over all past vocabulary from Unit 1 and 2.

If you forgot a sign, raise your hand and FS the word to me.
No talking please!!!!!!
So.... lets go over a few together.

What are some ways that YOU do to help learn/remember signs?
Since a lot of signs are Iconic, its easy to associate the sign with what it actually represents.

Example:
GIRAFFE
Why? They have long necks
JACKET
Why? As if you're putting on a jacket
b

So... today's activity you will be working with groups that I have assigned. Go ahead and go sit next to your group.

One person then come grab a dictionary.
Write down your 4-5 words in your journal.

Then, look up your words in the dictionary.

Next to the word, write down an association for that sign.
Ex: DOG - snap your fingers as if you're calling a dog

You've got 15 minutes to get all your words down AS A GROUP. You will be teaching the class your words, so be prepared!!!
