Mount Shasta Volcano Project Five Additional Important Facts:
The elevation of Mount Shasta is 14,162 feet (4317 meters).
The first sucessful climber of Mount Shasta was Captain E.D. Pearce of Yreka, California on August 14, 1854.
Mount Shasta is the second highest peak in the Cascade Range.
Mount Shasta is composed of four overlapping andesite eruptive centers, the Sargents Ridge cone, Misery Hill, Shastina, and Hotlum.
The nearest major airport to Mount Shasta is in Redding, California. Longitude:

North America Classification of Mount Shasta: Dormant Type of Volcano: Mount Shasta is a strato volcano. Date of last eruption:
There are no historical eruptions of Mount Shasta. A volcanic eruption was witnessed by sea in 1786. This is believed today to have been Mount Shasta.

Number of People Killed:
The number of people killed in this eruption is unknown, because the area near Mount Shasta was not largely populated in the late 1700's. Bibliography:
