The Sahara desert is 9,400,000 square kilometres so it covers most of North Africa making it almost larger than China and the U.S.A. The Sahara stretches from the Red Sea to the outskirts of the Atlantic Ocean. The covers large parts of Algeria, Chad, Egypt, Libya, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Niger, Western Sahara, Sudan, and Tunisia.
