Reducing the air pollution 6- Is Biomass technology Accepted? Biomass is matter usually thought of as garbage. Biomass is biological material derived from living, or recently living organisms. In the context of biomass for energy this is often thought of as plant based material, but biomass can equally apply to both animal and vegetable derived material. Energy sources for businesses Electrical power for the new generations Yes, biomass technology is accepted in the community today. Biomass energy is helping in the reduction of air pollution Carbon footprint has been reduced Its also helping boost the economy by creating jobs in bio-fuel fields Reforestation by saving trees 8- Are there any particular locations better suited for Biomass production and use ? You Tube Video for Biomass 4- What are Negative Environmental impacts? 7- Do the costs of Biomass make it prohibitive for common energy use? 9-How is science applied in biomass energy and how is it used to address Biomass Energy in a Local or Global context: 11- Biomass Factors Biomass power, created from the burning of plants, raises more serious environmental issues than any other renewable resource. Combustion of biomass and biomass-derived fuels produce air pollution. There are also concerns about the impacts of using land to grow energy crops. How serious these impacts are will depend on how carefully the resource is managed! Sources Biomass is a versatile energy source. It can be used anywhere. All around the world people are using wood stoves to heat their buildings and for cooking. Making biomass the most common energy source. Produced by living or recently living organisms. http://www.cleanvideosearch.com/media/action/yt/watch?videoId=k6gNCmQ9F_M cr.middlebury.edu library.think quest.org http://www.brainpop.com/technology/energytechnology/energysources/http://cr.middlebury.edu/es/altenergylife/biomass%20logo.gifhttp://www.google.com/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=images&cd=&docid=Uc3Zuf--YC4W5M&tbnid=b_lk5j06oNCX9M:&ved=0CAIQjBw&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ukerc.ac.uk%2Fsupport%2Ftiki-download_file.php%3FfileId%3D1688&ei=gqAjUbqvCejL2QXNgYEw&bvm=bv.42553238,d.b2I&psig=AFQjCNGH8utwE8yae7IXWQjeMkh4SgbYDw&ust=1361375667465448http://www.biomassenergycentre.org.uk/portal/page?_pageid=76,15049&_dad=portalhttp://wiki.answers.com/Q/Where_can_biomass_be_used
http://www.helium.com/items/1723137-the-environmental-impact-of-using-biomass-for-energy To grow biomass, you would need at least some
kind of agricultural source. The "Corn Belt"
has much agricultural land and can provide
massive packs of biomass with corn and other sources of plantations. You also need areas or locations that have human resources such as: scientists, technologists, and bioscientists. You need science to convert the plants and
other sources of life to produce biofuels and the technology to use it. On a global scale,I think that bio-diesel and other bio-fuels can impact society by reducing the amount of greenhouse
gases in the atmosphere. On a local scale, biomass can
fuel the electricity in your home and provide jobs. For the original average cost of biofuels, it would be about 2.9 to 3.6 cents per kilowatt hour.
On the other hand, fossil fuels and other oil-based fuels are about 2.1 cents per kilowatt hour, so it is relatively expensive, but still affordable. Biomass energy and technology is reducing air pollution and is creating jobs in the bio-fuel departments at major corporations. "Humans have been using biomass for energy for tens of thousands of years, since we first tamed fire. First our ancestors used fallen wood, twigs, bark and the remains of trees.
