4.02 Should the government raise the minimum wage?
Transcript of 4.02 Should the government raise the minimum wage?
Should the minimum wage be raised?
In my opinion, yes the minimum wage should be raised. This would support and benefit families struggling to pay bills, workers would be more content, and according to inflation the minimum wage needs to be raised.
Raising the minimum wage would support and benefit families struggling to get by.
Some parents have to work two or more jobs to pay for accommodations, bills, and debts. If people were paid modest amounts of money they wouldn't have quite as many debts.
The Economic Policy Institute estimates that when the minimum wage increases, it will not only lift paychecks for the people earning minimum wage, but it will give those earning more than minimum wage a benefit of the "spillover" effect
If minimum wage increases it could possibly lead to more jobs
More content Workers
If workers got paid more, they'd be a lot happier
Normally, when people are happy with their pay they stay with that company, Thus resulting in that company not having to spend money on new employees and training
According to Inflation Minimum wage should be higher
In 1970 the minimum wage was $1.70, with Inflation by 2012 the minimum wage should have been $10.50
The Government didn't raise the wage annually, making the minimum wage less than what it should be
to fix this we would have to raise the minimum wage
Minimum wage should be indexed as inflation, so it will rise automatically.
Problems with Raising the Minimum Wage
People assume that it would destroy jobs
Would accelerate companies off-shoring of jobs
