Nature of work
-Fix Crooked teeth

-Uses braces, retainers and other devices
Main Duties
-Examine teeth
- Diagnose problems with teeth
-Fit braces or retainer to correct teeth
-Give advice
Education and/or Training
-complete 1-4 years of bachelor's degree
-most schools require applicants to take certain courses
-must pass DAT (Dental Admission Test)
-when finished dental school they will receive DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery)or DMD (Doctor of Dental Medicine)
-When finished school you must pass NDEB (National Dental Examining Board)exams before you can start practicing

To become orthodontist:

-must go to school to complete training in orthodontics
-must pass orthodontics specialty exam
Working Conditions
-Self employed
-Work 40 hours a week
-Keep regular business hours
-On call
-mentally exhausting
-Wear protective clothing to prevent disease and infections
-Lots of time talking to patients
