Transcript of My experience with

There are two forms of pancreatitis: acute and chronic.

Acute pancreatitis is the type I have. Which is a sudden inflammation that lasts for a short time. It may range from mild discomfort to a severe, life-threatening illness. Most people with acute pancreatitis recover completely after getting the right treatment. In severe cases, acute pancreatitis can result in bleeding into the pancreas, serious tissue damage, infection, and cyst formation. Severe pancreatitis can also harm other vital organs such as the heart, lungs, and kidneys. It can even cause DEATH!!

My Life In Hospitals
My life story
I have been in an out of the hospital every since I was born. When I was born I was def. It wasn't until I had my first cold and I sneezed for the first time that it popped my ears open. From then on I could hear.
Me in the hospital for the third time =(
Me when I was in the hospital with Pancreatitis the first time.
Tonsils & Adenoids
When I was about 6-7 I had my Tonsils and Adenoids taken out. They had to do it twice because the first time they didn't even get to start the surgery and I was already lousing oxygen to the brain. They had to hurry up and bring me back from the anesthesia so I could breath again. Now we know that if I have to have surgery again they have to be very careful putting me to sleep.
After I got my Tonsils and Adenoids taken out I was fine until one day My stomach hurt really bad and my dad being a paramedic and all said that since it has been hurting all day. If it gets worse we will go to the hospital because it could be an appendicitis. That night after supper it got a lot worse so he took me to the hoslital where he worked part time at. There I got an IV and had a Ultrasound done. Then, they transported me to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital where they told me I had Pancreatitis. I stayed in the hospital for about 4 days.

The Pancreas
The pancreas is a large gland behind the stomach next to the small intestine. The pancreas does two main things:
It releases powerful digestive enzymes into the small intestine to aid in the digestion of food, and
It releases the hormones like insulin and glucagon into the bloodstream. These hormones help the body control how it uses food for energy.
Pancreatitis is a disease in which the pancreas becomes inflamed. Pancreatic damage happens when the digestive enzymes are activated before they are released into the small intestine and begin attacking the pancreas cousing it to get inflamed.
What I looked like when I was sick
Chronic Pancreatitis
If I get Pancreatitis one more time I will be considered as havin Chronic pancreatitis becouse it will be my forth time with it. Chronic pancreatitis is long-lasting inflammation of the pancreas. You get Chronic Pancreatitis by having acute pancreatitous several times where it keep returning and it wont go away.
~Upper abdominal pain that radiates into the back. It may be aggravated by eating, especially foods high in fat.
~Swollen and tender abdomen
~Nausea and vomiting
~Increased heart rate
~low blood pressure.
~The heart, lungs, or kidneys may even fail.
~ even DEATH!!
The second time I got a pancreatitis attack I was at school and that morning before school I told my mom it hurt and she said if it gets worse call her. So diring 2nd block I went in to what the hospital said was shock where I got cold sweats, fever, shakes, and dizziness. The in 3rd block I called my mom and we went strate to Le Bonheur where i stayed for about 6 days.
The difference in a Healthy pancreas and an inflamed one.
The Pancreas
My 3rd time
Last time I was in the hospital was during the second 9 weeks of this school year. I was in the hospital for 2 weeks. when you have pancreatitis they don't let you eat at first till your enzyme levels get back under control and this time they where the highest they have ever been. In the thousand when they are supposed to be under a hundred. I went a week with no food then they started me on a liquid diet till the day before the day I left they let me ieat real food to make shore I could hadel it and they took me of the IV and made me drink a lot to make shore that once I go home I wont get dehydrated.
Now I take 3 pills a day to help with my low thyroid level and my cholesterol. We still don't know how or why I keep getting pancreatitis. Kids normal don't get Pancreatitis, It is normally found in Men between the ages of 40-60 who are bad alcoholics. But lately there have been more and more cases of kids getting this disease. They don't even know what causes it. Most the time it is a Gallstone but I didn't have that and I don't drink alcohol and now I never can without ending up back in the hospital. We have even tested to see if it is hereditary because my mom had an aunt who died of pancreatic cancer, but nothing came back that we know of.

There is NO cure for Pancreatitis.
THE END !!!!
Always Sick
My mom said that I was always sick, because I was a winter baby. But I dint thank that that is really why. Between the ages of 3-5 I had every thing Hand Foot Mouth Disease, Fifths Disease, and a lot more...
