Background
Somalia

The capital of Somalia is Mogadishu.
The life expectancy of someone in Somalia is only 51.20 years.
The Somali War began in 1991 after the Fall of the Barre Region in 1985.
The population of Somalia is 10,085,683 (estimation).
Somalia is located on the Horn of Africa on the most eastern edge of Africa.
The currency of Somalia is the Somali Shilling or SOS which has been used since 1962.
Culture
How can I get to Somalia?

The majority of Somalis are Sunni Muslims. There are a small number of Christians as well.
The official languages of Somalia are Somali and Arabic.
Somalia is known for its exotic cuisine.
In Somalia family groups belong to clans. Some of the biggest clans are: Darod, Dir, Hawiye and Isaaq.
Football is the most common sport in Somalia.
Somali Civil War
The Somali Civil War began in 1991 and is still going to the present day.
So far there has been 300,000 confirmed casualties.
The UN attempted to bring peace amongst the country, however, after causing more casualties then intended they withdrew in 1995.
Somali Civil War Continued...
Because of the war there are currently 1.4 million IDP's and 10,600 asylum seekers in Somalia.
It is known as the 'worlds worst humanitarian disaster.'
1 in 3 Somali children are malnourished.
Somalia has the worst under 5 mortality rate in the world.
Only 30% of the country has access to safe clean water.

Where is Somalai?
There are no direct flights into Somalia as it has been a war zone for more than 20 years. To get safely into Somalia you need to fly into Sharjah, then fly into Bereba which is in the tourist area of Somalia as the capital is too dangerous.
