Social Media
Before being introduced to Pinterest people could only assume it was another social networking site. However, after using it for the first time people realised how fun it could be as you could plan events, gain great ideas, and be able to create hopes and dreams all through the use of creating thematic virtual boards after all Pinterest is a tool for collecting and organising things you love. People are amazed and get addicted quite easily.
Associated with Pinterest are advantages and disadvantages. Advantages being, Pinterest is highly beneficial for business as it allows images to be constantly circulated. Pinterest is an advantage for those who want to plan an event such as weddings, birthdays, baby showers etc. On the other hand, as a result of companies using pinterest as advertising, this is in some ways creates more of a catalogue opposed to a social experience. There are also privacy concerns as it is connected with either Facebook or Twitter (Tadej, 2013).
Pinterest is a social network based on the concept of organising and sharing interesting pictures. It allows you to create and manage theme-based image collections such as interests, events and hobbies. Ben Slibermann began developing the idea in December 2009, and it was later launched March 2010 (Pinterest, 2013).
An online blog by Verge Staff (2012) gave a perspective on Instagram, suggesting its users upload “billions of damaged images into the public record”. The perspectives articulated suggest that though Instagram itself is successful in what it aims to achieve, the real problem lies with the “realness” of the photos generated. When you apply a filter to an image, you’re not enhancing it, but destroying its originality and replacing it to exaggerate a more personal interpretation of artisanship.
This presentation tool looks at the five popular types of social media. These cover the perspectives of the services , advantages and dis vantages, and also the history of the networks and how they are all used.
Instagram is a social media application with the purpose for users to share life experiences through pictures as they happen. Pioneered in 2010, creators Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger combined social products with photography to create a new method for people to socially interact with each other (Instagram, 2014).
Associated with Instagram, are a few advantages and disadvantages. The application itself increases communication which promotes social interaction, however, it also enhances artistic ability being able to filter images in different ways and make moments original. Conversely, as goes with anything on the internet, rights to privacy are evasive as personal information is able to be shared. In addition, if the application is used incorrectly, Instagram itself is not only adversely affected but the user as well (Nasca-geosystemes, 2013).
Participants use Facebook to engage and interact with people, it allows individuals to present themselves through creating their own personal profiles to accumulate friends, freely comment or like photos, upload images and statuses. Users can also join virtual groups based on their common interests. The disadvantages focus more on false identities, in which information users provide on profiles can be misleading and may be putting them selves at high risk of stalking or identity theft.
Mark zuckberg founded Facebook in his college 6 years ago, Zuckberg originally had built a course match program which had enabled users figuring out which classes to take.Zuckberg was then approached by students for assistance with a site called Harvard connection, which he then chose to abandon their project in order to build his own site which he labeled Facebook, This site was an instant hit.
Facebook, is one of the most popular social network sites among college students it's linked to behaviors and attitudes that relate to individuals social well being. These resolutions should give peace of mind to those who fear that Facebook has mostly negative effects on young adults,
