Ledger had multiple confrontations with the media although he tried to keep his life as private possible. Failed relationships, health problems and behavioral oddities while filming "The Dark Knight" unwanted attention. He began to have respiratory issues, aggressive behavior, and suffered from insomnia. His sleep deprived issues and emotional distress resulted in the fatal use of prescriptions that were responsible for is death.
Reversal of Fortune: The Joker
Heath Ledger was an Australian actor and director that was mainly known for his roles in blockbuster films including "The Dark Knight", "Brokeback Mountain", and "10 Things I Hate About You". As a youth, Ledger participated in many Grammar school stage productions. He later went on to pursue an acting career at age 16. Ledger's life was full of success and accomplishments but as his work gained more attention from the public eye, he became overwhelmed in the limelight.
Purging of Emotion
Heath Ledger's death shocked and devastated fans worldwide. Although he wasn't healthy, medically or psychologically, he was still known as a friendly and talented individual by many. His life may not have ended strong but people will forever remember him for his amazing role play and his legacy will live on through his films.
Heath Ledger's intense preparation for his role of the Joker impacted him more than any other film. In the German documentary "Too Young To Die", Ledger's father, Kim Ledger, speaks about his son's behavior during the production of the film.
"This is the Joker's diary. In order to inhabit his character, he (Heath) locked himself up in a hotel room for weeks. He would do that. He liked to dive into his characters, but this time he really took it up a notch." ... "Before the end of the shooting he wrote "bye bye" on the back of the page. It was hard to see this."

In the interview, Ledger talks about how the birth of his daughter changed his outlook on death. He basically stated that he is more 'open' to the idea of dying because his legacy will live on through his child.
