Transcript of Terrorism
"Terrorism has no religion, race, gender, or nationality."
The idea of using violence to motivate leaders to change political rules has long been introduced since the pre-modern world. During the French Revolution, the reign of terror was a period of violence that was created to kill off enemies who opposed this revolution. Another intriguing event in history that showed early signs of terrorism was the Barbarous massacre that took place in March 22,1622. 30 % of Virginia's population, 35 of which were women and 3o children. Male citizens made up the remaining percentile. Now terrorism has become a global phenomenon that has taken the lives of many,if not thousands of people. It happens in a number of places around the world but mostly in Pakistan, Iraq and Afghanistan. The scariest thing bout this problem is that no one knows exactly when another attack will happen. This simple fact alone makes terrorism almost unstoppable and seem even more life threatening.
Although terrorism can seem almost impossible to stop, some precautions can be taken to make sure that these incidents aren't repeated. More security measures should be taken, for example cameras should be placed in all public places and surveillance videos should be monitored 24/7. More background checks should be made before people are allowed in or out of the country. Airports should double up on security and bomb detectors should be placed in every available corner in public places. People should also start to report any suspicious activity that they observe as a way to prevent these acts from reccuring.
From this research we learned that acts of terrorism not only affects us but also many other citizens in various countries. Discrimination and the misunderstanding of other countries is what leads to it. If countries could put away their differences and try to get along then this would cause terrorism to happen less frequently or barely at all.
Terrorism around the world
Terrorism is the use of violence and intimidation in the pursuit of political aims. These acts are demonstrated through out the world by rebels who do not wish to comply with the government's demands. The reason why people commit such crimes is either because of religious misunderstanding, discrimination or the ignorant belief that violence is the easiest way to get attention. Others might do it just for the thrill, almost like a psychotic sensation they have, begging them to to put fear into someone's heart. They are so quick to give up their lives by strapping a bomb to their chest for these inhumane purposes without thinking of the lives that they would take along with them in the process.
I was watching the Towers, and though I wasn't the closest
I saw them crumble to the Earth like they was full of explosives
And they thought nobody noticed the news report that they did
About the bombs planted on the George Washington bridge
Four Non-Arabs arrested during the emergency
And then it disappeared from the news permanently
They dubbed a tape of Osama, and they said it was proof
"Jealous of our freedom," I can't believe you bought that excuse
Terrorism affects The United states because we've already suffered two terrorist attacks that have made Americans began to wonder if they're safe. Many remember what it was like to get the news of 9/11, then when the story of the Boston bombing aired, people began to realize how serious of a problem this was. In the Boston marathon incident, three people died and 264 were left badly injured. September 11, however had much worst results. Approximately 3,000 lives were lost . 264 of those were the passengers of the four planes that crashed the towers. Terrorism not only affects America but also every other country around the world. The famous stereotype of all middle eastern people being terrorist really isn't true. The middle east also faces terrorist attacks on a day-to-day basis. Just last year, Kenya faced a severe terrorism attack at a local mall. About 447 suspects were reported to be involved in this crime. Even Athletes had to face the threat of terrorism during the olympics. Mccaul from homeland security said that "I think there’s a high degree of probability that something will detonate, something will go off.” This emphasizes that these threats can appear anywhere at anytime. So the best thing to do is be careful of your surroundings.
Effects on humanity
Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they can't touch the foundation of America, these acts shatter steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American Resolve" -George W. Bush
