By: Carlos Edegbe and Jorge Torres My Career:NBA Player NBA HISTORY SPECIFIC TASKS WORKING HOURS AND CONDITIONS SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES/
PHYSIOLOGICAL REQUIREMENTS TYPICAL SALARY/ EDUCATION AND TRAINING ADVANTAGES AND
DISADVANTAGES NBA stands for the National Basketball Association.
It hold the worlds most talented basketball players like LeBron James, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Wilt Chamberlain, Kobe Bryant, Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane Wade, Kevin Durant ,and Michael Jordan. NBA was found in New York City and it is one of North Americas 4 major sports. The commissioner of the league is David Stern. The NBA has 30 teams(29 in the USA and 1 in Canada). The Boston Celtics has the most championships with 17 titles but the most recent champions are the Miami Heat(best team in the world). IN THIS JOB I WOULD BE SPENDING MY TIME IN THE GYM ALSO PRACTICING AND WORKING ON MY GAME. IN THIS JOB I WILL KEEP THE SAME POSITION. MY PRIMARY POSITION WOULD BE A SMALL FORWARD AND MY SECONDARY POSITION WOULD BE A SHOOTING GUARD OR POWER FORWARD. There is some stress in this job when your team expects
alot from you. This job is a safe place to work in and the working environments are great. NBA players work depending on their schedule. It could be day or night. they also work everyday but they get some days off too. The typical salary for an NBA player would be about $5.15 million a year. Kobe Bryant is the highest paid player in the NBA with $27,849,149 a year the lowest paid player would be Mario West with $20,103. To get into the NBA you would need a High School (GED would be OK), or college degree of any kind (AA from community college or BA from a university). You need a GED or high school diploma to enter most colleges or universities but some community colleges can help you get your GED done. To be an NBA player requires plenty of physical skills and plenty of talent. to be an NBA player you also have to have a lot of stamina, versatility, strength, athleticism and the ability to stand for a very long time. Being an NBA player has its advantages and rewards. A good advantage in the NBA is to be with a good NBA/ playoff team. The ultimate reward in the NBA is to raise that Larry o Brien trophy and calling yourself a champion. Some drawbacks in the NBA would be being stuck with a sucky team with no playoff chances, also being benched could be a disadvantage. To avoid being benched and having an unsuccessful career there are some classes to take right now. An example would be athletics or being on the basketball team. JOB ENVIRONMENT NBA players are lucky enough to be able to work on the inside and not the outside. The only reason they do that is because it makes the games better and so we don't have to play in the rain or any other bad condition. NBA players travel a lot as a matter of fact they travel every week except from late October to late June. One of the fun parts of being an NBA player is that you get to visit different cites in the country like: Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Orlando, and New Orleans. NBA players play against many different players and play on a team with about 15 players. PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS Skills isn't everything in the NBA . You also have to be cooperative, sharing, and comprehensive. THE END "NBA." Wikipedia. Wikimedia Foundation, 31 May 2013. Web. 23 May 2013.
