The Life of a Foster Skills Co-op
being a foster skills co-op is challenging, but rewarding
so be ready to be the change you want to see in the world, and the change you want to see in yourself.
...ready for anything
you could be asked to
call a legislator
write memos
go to meetings at YearUp, Boston Children's Hospital etc.
go to the mayors inaugural ball (yes that is what I did my first day)
do just about anything -> and it's your job to figure out how to do it (google is your friend)

so what does foster skills do
the answer is complicated, but we will leave it at: everything from writing policy, to providing foster youth with soft and hard life skill programs
do your research. know this position before you think about applying... please
you essentially get what you give out of the co-op position
so are you ready?
email us if you have any questions
you could be
writing press releases
updating blogs
utilizing social media
networking with organizations
sending/responding to emails at all hours
communicating with C-level executives
...basically anything marketing related
other days you just need to be ready
ready for what you ask?
be professional, but casual
did your mom ever tell you there's a time and a place for everything? she was right.
some days you may be hanging out at a group home with foster youth, but some days you may go to the Supreme Court.
what does a typical day look like?
every day is different, exciting, and challenging...the key thing you
is how to go with the flow.
some days you may do marketing
prepare for TEDx talks
fashion shows for foster kids
attend networking events
connect with other organizations
order t-shirts
develop web portal
prep for TV shows
research foster care topics
sometimes we...
