Transcript of Impressionism

Impressionism is an art movement from the 19th century, that came from a group of very skilled artists from Paris called the anonymous society of painters . Their exhibitions made them famous during the 1870s and 1880s. The conventional art community in France was against the movement. The name of the art style came from the title of a work from the painter Claude Monet.
Claude Monet
Oscar Claude Monet was born in 14th November 1840 and died in 5th December 1926. He was a founder of the French Impressionism movement. The word Impressionism, is from the title of his painting Impression, soleil levant (Impression Sunrise) which was exhibited in 1874 in the first of the independent exhibitions by Monet and his associates as another option to the Salon de Paris.
Impressionism is a style of painting that started with some artists from Paris, from painters, Claude Monet Edgar Degas and Camille Pissarro and others organized this group. Their exhibitions made the artists famous in the 1870s and 1880s, they were a total of 30 artists in the exhibitions. The conventional art community in France was against the movement.
Impressionism is about small, thin brush strokes.
Edgar Degas was born in Paris in July 19th he was the oldest of five children in his family. His family was wealthy, his father was a banker. He was never married. He was one of the most important founders of impressionism. He didn't like the term impressionism, he prefered to call it realism. Almost blind by then he died in 1917. He is famous for painting ballerinas.

Vincent Van Gogh was born in Groot-Zundert, Neatherlands, March 30th 1853.He influenced a lot the 20th century because of his painting's beauty emotion and color.He died being poor and unknown and also struggling with his mental illness
