-His parents are Henry and Emma Owens
-He won three track
and field events at the 1933 Interscholastic Championships
-Then in Ohio State
University, two year later
equaled one world record
broke three world records
-beds consisted of blankets on floor
-lucky to even have survived(many diseases and sicknesses)
-12 siblings=3 died at birth
-lived in a small unheated 3 room house
