Test Taking Strategies Eat a good breakfast. Wear comfortable clothing. Think positively about the test.
You will do your best if you try your best. Read all of the answers carefully!
If you finish early, go back and check your answers. Use the bathroom BEFORE the test. Get a good night's sleep before the test. ! Try to clear your mind of all worries.
Focus on the test.
Take a few deep slow breaths if you feel nervous. During the test Getting ready for the test If you wear glasses,
remember to wear them -
and make sure they're clean. Read directions carefully.
Reread them slowly if you do not understand them. Remember it is OK if you do not answer everything correctly. Make sure you fill in the correct number on the answer sheet. Use clues to decide how the author feels. Reread parts of the passage that you do not understand. If you do not know the meaning of a word, use context clues.
Read the sentence before and after. Read the questions first, then look for answers as you read the passage. Look for the negative words that can change the meaning, like-
not
opposite
except
antonym Do not become discouraged if a question is difficult. Complete easier questions first. Come back to the difficult ones.
