Transcript of The Distribution of Nutella: Marketing 1

Sugar, palm oil, hazelnuts, cocoa, and skim milk are harvested in Piedmont, Italy on fields owned by Ferrero International. The Distribution of Nutella by Aubrey Campbell Nutella was created by baker Pietro Ferrero in the 1940's because chocolate was expensive due to WWII rationing. It was originally called pasta gianduja and was renamed Nutella in 1964. Raw materials are shipped to Brantford, Toronto, Canada by air carrier. Ingredients are assembled by Ferrero Canada Inc. at the factory located in Brantford, Toronto, Canada. The completed Nutella product is shipped via semitruck to Ferrero USA's main headquarters and private warehouse located at 600 Cottontail Lane, Somerset, New Jersey, 08873. Agents that supply grocery stores obtain their Nutella from the New Jersey location. Nutella has 191 agents within the U.S. These agents transport the Nutella by semi truck. These agents then supply all major grocery store franchises (WalMart, Safeway, Kroger, Meijer, Costco, etc.), limited service restaurants, full service restaurants, colleges and universities, and hotels with Nutella Consumers buy the product at this location. This warehouse has a vast amount of shelving, but has no refrigeration methods as Nutella doesn't need to be refrigerated. Ferrero has established effective production numbers so that their Nutella is placed in store shelves far before the expiration date. Ferrero was able to make pasta gianduja because the percentage of cocoa in their recipe was less than the legal percentage in Italy to deem a substance "chocolate". Ferrero Inc. How does it get to your table? In addition, Nutella is sold in 26 other countries. Canada United States Austrailia and New Zealand Yum :)
