I think 5 Seconds of Summer have influenced One Direction a bit. When they were all on tour together they all learned new things from each other.
April 15 – Two bombs explode
at the Boston Marathon in
Boston, Massachusetts, in the United States,
killing 3 and injuring 264 others
February 15 – A meteor explodes over the
Russian city of Chelyabinsk, injuring 1,491 people and damaging over 4,300 buildings. It is the most powerful meteor to strike Earth's atmosphere in over a century
November 8 – Typhoon Haiyan "Yolanda", one of the strongest tropical cyclones on record, hits the Philippines and Vietnam, causing devastation with
at least 6,129 dead

Wherever You Are:
Lyrical Analysis
To me, Wherever You Are by 5 Seconds of Summer is saying how two people are being torn apart from each other and they don't know if the other person is going to move on or not. They always want to call the other person to remind them that they won't forget them, but sometimes things just aren't meant to last.
Has This Band Made a Difference?
Yes, this band has made a difference. They have saved many lives with their music and they do their best to communicate with all their fans. They stay in touch with their fans as much as possible and every chance they get they will go out and meet them.
