Winsor McCay Biography Born Zenas Winsor McKay September 26, 1867 in Michigan Attended Cleary's Business College in Ypsilanti, Michigan to learn to be a businessman Inspired for a career in art after meeting a glass stainer Moved to Chicago, and then Cincinatti Died in 1934 in Brooklyn Initial Works McCay's first major comic strip series was Tales of the Jungle Imps by Felix Fiddle . His strips Little Nemo (best known work) and Dreams of a Rarebit Fiend both captured the essence of a dream The comics McCay produced had a difficult time
becoming popular with the masses For his first animations, he had to individually
draw each pictue out, then put it in motion By: C.J. Mammele Gerti the Dinosaur McCay used perspective, and it was considered by many to be his biggest contribution to art Works Cited
