Hired to build a lock system for the Panama Canal in 1887 Important work in meteorology and aerodynamics Gustave Eiffel est mort 27 decembre 1923 dans sa maison de Paris. Statue of Liberty Ecole Centrale des Arts et Manufactures Graduated in 1855 Ecole Polytechnique Originally Bönickhausen, but changed to Eiffel (officially in 1880) Influenced by Jean-Baptiste and Michel Perret Private secretary at a railway company Compagnie des Chemins de Fer de l'Ouest *Charles Nepveu* 1860- Bordeaux bridge Consulting engineer in 1865 1881- called by Auguste Bartholdi -experienced with wind stress Finished in May 1889 1905- laboratory on the Champ de Mars
1907- built a wind tunnel Awarded the Samuel P. Langely Medal for Aerodromics in 1913 He was 91 years old.
