Transcript of Incorporating Life Skills in the Classroom

Incorporating Life Skills in the Classroom By: Ryan Graddy Observations During my observations assignment, I learned the importance of organizational skills. I also learned the importance of group work in the classroom. Micro-Lesson During my microlesson I set up a microscope to give the students a lab to bring relevance in to the classroom. These 2 things help students learn important life skills they will need later in life. I also informed the class that I was a biologist at the Oklahoma Aquarium. I realized guest spearkers were great for the classroom. This got the student's attention and I had many questions asked about this. These 2 things brought relevance to the classroom. Students got to see the things that they could be doing if they were to go into the biology field. Other Life Skills to Bring Into the Classroom Include: On-Your-Own Projects such as Presentations Field Trips Research Competitions such as the Science Fair In conclusion, there are many ways to incorporate life skills in the classroom. We as teachers need to be aware of this so our students have the best chance for success later in life.
