B O L T S S Melbourne street map Source: http://www.bcl.com.au/melbourne/about/map01.htm At this point, you are probably thinking: What on Earth is BOLTSS? BOLTSS is a word that we use to help us remember different parts of a map. Each letter stands for a different word. Firstly, the B stands for border. A border around a map clearly shows the size and shape of the map. Melbourne street map Source: http://www.bcl.com.au/melbourne/about/map01.htm See the thick black border around the outside? Secondly, the O stands for orientation. This shows us the compass direction, with north always at the top of the map.
