Sergent Pitts was on duty at a base camp in Afghanistan when his camp was raided by Afghan Rebels. Pitts displayed honor when he provided cover for his fallen comrades while putting himself in the line of fire.
Pitts displayed valor when he held on to a grenade until the last second before throwing it. By doing this the grenade would have an almost instant explosion once it reaches the enemy
Pitts displayed sacrafice when he was suffering extreme blood loss but still fought on. He could have just stood still and stopped his blood loss. But with his decision he suffered extreme blood loss.
Pitts displayed Patriotism when he radioed in his control tower and gave them the status of the base. Even though the enemy was near him and cvould have easily killed him, he decided to save his fellow comrades by informing the control tower to send in reieforcements
The recipient is Kyle J. White. Mr. White risked his life for others in multiple situations. He took the situation into his own hands only being only a radio operator and he did significant things.
Kyle White exposed himself to enemy fire to save a falling soldier to supply him with medial help. He first went to go save another life before he even thought about saving his own.
Kyle White exposed himself to enemy fire once again to secure a radio from a decreased comrade. For the second time he exposed himself on the battlefield but this time to get a radio!
Kyle White distingiushed himself by acts of gallantry and intensity at a risk of his life above and beyond serving as a radio operator.
Kyle White had been hit hard, he was embedded with shrapnel, but he didn't care. He shook it off and he kept going as much as he could. He showed great courage through this.
