Your Writing Prompt:
What stylistic elements does King use to influence his readers? After reading and analyzing "Letter from Birmingham Jail," write an essay in which you answer the question and analyze structure and language in his text, providing three or more examples to illustrate and clarify your analysis. What conclusion can you draw about the power of this text?
Look back at the list of hook techniques. Which two techniques could you use to introduce your essay effectively?
anecdote and description
Choose one of those techniques for your HOOK and briefly explain why you chose that technique.
I choose description because it is very interesting how King connects his letter to the facts from the Bible and how he refers to it.
Write the HOOK for your essay in the space below.
The Bible is included in kings writing with the structure of allusion..
Write a two- to four-sentence BRIDGE to connect your hook and thesis statement.
King uses allusion and combines the Bible with his letter. The Bible is Holy and holds only the truth which makes people believe in it. He is presenting his situation as the truth so people would also believe in it. He knows that you can't doubt a Bible about the true facts in it so he uses it soo people can hear him out and believe.
Write your THESIS STATEMENT.
The Bible is used in King's letter because it is Holy and holds only the truth which gives King a chance to connect it with his life and make people believe in his words and actually see what he is saying.
Now, copy and paste the sentences from numbers 3, 4, and 5 (above) into one paragraph in the space below. Congratulations! You have your introduction written!
