The CONGRESS of VIENNA When did the meeting take place? Where did the meeting take place? Why was the meeting held? The 5 European
Powers in attendance: Who was in charge

seek to restore? How long did
the changes last? The congress was assemled shortly after the overthrow of Napoleon, and took place between September of 1814 to June of 1815. It took place in Vienna, Austria. THE VIENNA CONGRESS provided the conclusion to the French Revolution and the Napoleonic Wars. There was a need to restore peace in Europe as well as to redefine geographical boundaries. 1. AUSTRIA
The Congress was dominated by Prince Metternich of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It sought to restore absolutist families to the thrones of Europe and maintain a balance of power. The restoration of peace in Europe was paramount. The Congress of Vienna was successful in suppressing nationalistic movements from 1815 to 1848. This period was known as the 'Metternich Age'.
