Transcript of High-pitched, cat-like cry or weak cry

Mutation
Mutations are caused by any genetic alteration. Errors can lead to genetic changes. Cri du chat is caused by a deletion at the end of the chromosome.
Point Mutation
Point mutation is the replacement of the current nucleotide for another

A mutation is a change in genes causing abnormal results
FRAMESHIFT MUTATION
It is a mutation that causes insertions/deletions
INSERTIONS
Is the Task in which one or more nucleotide pairs are added
CITED SOURCES
DELETIONS
Deletions occur when a part of a chromosome becomes lost during cell division
The process of producing more copies of genes
DUPLICATION
INVERSIONS
the process of reversing the
broken segment of the chromosome and putting it back
NON-DISJUNCTION
sister chromatids fail to correctly separate during cell division. it can cause gametes to have one extra chromosome and some gametes missing a chromosome.

DIAGNOSING CRI-DU-CHAT
Scientist check the newborn children to see if there are any missing portions from the left arm of their chromosome
TREATMENTS
Physiotherapy

Speech therapy

Alternate communication

occupational therapy
ETHICAL IMPLICATIONS OF DIAGNOSIS OR TREATMENT
a random individual
can be affected by a mutation. Point mutations affect the order of the dna sequence without removing or adding anything.

A frame shift mutation is a pair that is affected by a mutation. A deletion and insertion are both frame shift mutations because they remove or add from the dna sequence.

As an infant the baby would have a high pitched cry like that of a cat.
There is no cure for Cri-Du-Chat but it's not something to kill your child over.
