Simulation of Impedance Spectroscopy using COMSOL Pushparaj Pathak Interdigitated Electrode Array Impedance Spectroscopy Impedance is opposition to flow of current by a complex system (containing energy storing as well as dissipating device)
In impedance spectroscopy the impedance of a system over a range of frequency is measured
The presence of a cell (dielectric) between two electrodes changes the impedance of the device
This impedance change forms the basis of sensing bio molecules
Equivalent Circuit [2] Model Equation IDE with cells Model Paramaters COMSOL Setup

The IDE structure with buffer solution was modeled in 1D
The Electric currents (ec) node was used to solve the physics
The voltage (50 mV) was applied to the system using a Terminal node
The study was done in frequency domain, the frequency was swept from 1e-5 Hz to 1e9 Hz
The impedance was obtained by taking the inverse of the admittance obtained at the terminal
Impedance for both cases: IDE without cell and IDE with cell was calculated
