Prepping For a Test Time Management Made Easy Is procrastinating and focusing on your work become a big problem for you? Is it becoming a bigger problem everyday when you can't do your homework properly? This 2 step time management strategy may be the answer to all your problems! Step 1: Record You are only going to result in a low mark on your homework if you don't get it done on time if you procrastinate using these for ex: Write down what you need to do and what you need to remember so you don't forget about what you need to work on for homework, you can record that information on your planner, your phone, etc. Anywhere where you can record to do your homework. MATH ENGLISH FRENCH Tip: Another option to save time on doing your homework is that you can set a time for each assignment to do, and also when your assignment is due. Step 2: Do's and Don't's Studying in front of the t.v., your phone, computer, etc. is a big distraction and it will waste time in doing your work, you can do all of that after you are finished doing all of your assignments. Don't waste time by going back and forth into every room, get your supplies ready before you start your assignment such as a calculator, pencils, erasers, etc. Don't always put yourself in a
negative mood and thinking that
you're never going to finish your
homework on time, be positive and use your time wisely and you will be finished with your work in no time. Studying: When and Where to Study At what time of the day are you most alert in your studies? Do you study better by yourself
or with some of your peers? What motivates you to push yourself and keep on doing your work? What essentials do you need to help you finish your homework faster? These are the kinds of questions that you need to be asking yourself everyday before you start your homework to get you through it. For ex: If you're forgetful, check your planner right when you get home and do the homework that's needed to be done so you have the rest of the day off. Try working with people and create a group study if you think it would help and if it doesn't distract you from doing your work. Make sure to have good lighting so you can see what you're doing properly, be in a quiet place if you're easily distracted and keep a moderate temperature in the room, a comfortable chair is to work on, not your bed, but a chair, and lastly, a neat and tidy workspace so you know where to find the things you need. Soothing background music may calm you while doing your homework, or it may just distract you. Avoid noisy distracting music. If you prefer listening to music then give it a try. Learning Style Most of us have different ways of learning things and we learn from what we usually do to help us learn. If you know what your learning style is, then you will be able to use your time effectively, you will be able to have a strategy of remembering things, etc. If you don't have a learning style, then one of the choices down below may be it. A) You might be an auditory learner. If you are an auditory learner, you tend to remember things if you hear or read them, you can understand spoken instructions rather than written instructions and can pronounce every word correctly in your head while you read quietly. If this is you, you should try reading things out loud, listing the instructions and steps to a task, learning from videotapes and lessons, and talking about concepts with your peers. B) You might be visual learner if you learn best from reading, and easier to understand things that are written out, and picture things in your head in order to remember them. If this is you, try taking notes while the teacher is teaching a lesson, draw out diagrams, charts or tables, organize and rewrite your notes, and visualize key words to be remembered. You might be a visual learner C) You might be a tactile/kinesthetic learner If you are a tactile/kinesthetic learner, you enjoy hands-on learning, you are good at figuring out mazes and puzzles; and you can often do anything without the help of instructions. If this is you, try writing things out several times, and learn by doing or practicing. Skill: Listen and Learn Listening takes an active mind, you're interacting with everything that you hear when you listen, you don't only listen from ear to ear. But how does that work? Make connections:
How does what you're hearing everyday fit in with the things that you already know? Do the things that you already know change from the new things learn? Does it prove or disprove? Ask questions and get involved:
There are always people who generally welcome your questions. If you need to be more clear of something, ask about it. If you're not convinced of something, challenge yourself. Take notes:
Listen from the key points in a lesson and write them down in your notebook using your own words. Concentrate on the speaker:
It'll be less difficult for you if you concentrate and focus on the speaker. How to find Information You can either use the library or the internet to help you get the information you need. Internet Research:
Internet researching can both be easy and hard; because finding the information you need is as simple as clicking the 'search' button, although the information you find isn't always right. Library Research:
For library research, you can find loads of information on newspapers, magazines, any books you might have lying around the house, journal articles, and you can find all of those in the library. All Research:
Keep everything handy, such as an encyclopedia, dictionary/thesaurus. Always write down the important information when researching using any of these. Read and Remember: Question yourself when you're learning, ask yourself what you don't and already know to know what you need to study. Read your understanding question by question. Review the key ideas and say them aloud in your head to help you remember. Reflect on your thinking on what you just read. Remember the important points that you read. Record the key ideas using your own words. Summarize the ideas and also write down questions that you still want to find out about. You "write" it down Picture it in your head Say it out loud Critical thinking:
Visualize everything you hear and analyze the information carefully. is it a fact? Or is it an opinion? Taking helpful notes Note taking is the simplest way to remember the things that you need to learn and remember. If you're studying for a test, you'll want to be able to take helpful notes while the teacher is teaching a lesson or while you're reading the textbook. Write down the key ideas and supporting facts

Visualize and then summarize the information in your own words to get the main idea/topic.
Listen or read for key points and give each point a section and record the headings and the main points in each section. Throw in some examples and important details in there as well.
Summarize at the end. Essays An essay is a written, one-sided argument that have a lot of paragraphs in them, mainly focusing on talking about a point about something. You will have an introduction, body, and a conclusion. In your introduction, you start out by explaining your thesis which is the point of your argument. You can say anything that you want as long as your explaining the case for it. Basically, if you make a point, be sure to support it, any mistakes that are founded in your facts will give you a low mark. Introduction: Body: Be sure to give each key part in your argument a new paragraph. Every paragraph you write should include a topic sentence. Conclusion: Using imperceptibly different words, repeat your thesis. Also, give a bit of a summary to finish of your essay. Critical thinking Thinking skills is an important skill to have because they can help you come up with your own creative ideas, solutions, theories, etc. This is also an important skill to have because it can help you remember the things you've read, heard, and seen. Always ask questions if you don't get something. Find out where and how the information you know is collected because even relevant-looking information can be unfair. Remember to always research everything about the issue, even if you do not have too. One angle might look authentic on its own, but pretty jittery when it's put in another perspective. How to NOT forget: four ways to remembering information. Be sure to actually understand what you're learning before you move on to something else.
You can remember something more by reviewing what you learned the same day you learned it, that way, it can be stored in your long term memory which makes it easier for you to learn new things.
Keep reviewing, reciting, and repeating.
Before learning something different, think about what you already know from the topic, it will be easier to learn about it if it connects to something you've learned before.
Organize the information and make an outline. Having your own study tips can help you study each day. If you do so, you're covered. Before you start to review, ask yourself these questions:
How much of your grade will it be worth?
How much time should I put into studying?
What kind of test will it be?
When will the test be? You should get all of your materials before you study for the test. Maybe taking smaller study sessions will be more effective for you rather than taking a big one. Also, take a break every once in a while to give your brain a break. Lastly, sleep is an important thing to consider at night before a test to rest your mind, and to refresh your brain. Another important thing to do is eat. Always eat a healthy breakfast to start you off in the morning. The End Different Tests = Different Strategies Before you start a test... Be careful while reading instructions so you don't make a mistake when you start the test. That can only result in a low mark.
Always remember to write your name and the date on the test, especially your name so the teacher knows who the test belongs too.
Scan the entire test when you receive it.
Skip any questions that you don't understand and move on to the next one. Don't forget to go back to the questions you haven't answered yet at the end.
Write down the things that is challenging for you so you can study it if you think you will forget how to do it.
Pay attention to the time you have and go at your own pace managing the time you use.
Ask the teacher if you don't understand the directions or questions.
Scan the whole test when you think you're finished to answer any unanswered questions and that you're satisfied with your answers.
