The Aztec, Maya, and Olmec all had very important pyramid shaped temples. They also all were very religious and believed that they needed to please their god. A difference is the Olmec were peaceful, the Maya sacrificed animals, but not very often, and the Aztec made human sacrifices almost daily.
The Aztec, Maya, and Olmecs were all very good Farmers. They also all grew corn, beans, and squash. One difference is the Olmec fished for food , the Maya had a god of nature, and the Aztec had Chinampas or floating gardens because of where they lived.
The Aztec, Maya, and Olmec developed their towns and cities over time where they all fished or hunted for food and trade. They all also played a ball game called "pok-a-tok" in large stone ball courts. No one knows what happened to the Maya, the Olmec quietly disappeared, while the Aztec were conquered by the Spanish.
The Aztec, Olmec, and Maya all traded in markets. Also all groups relied on trade for art materials, crops, and other items. The Maya traded their maize (corn), bean, and squash (also called the three sisters). The Olmec traded over very long distances for jade. The Aztec developed roads to travel by foot, which boosted their trade.
The Maya, Olmec, and Aztec all studied astronomy. Their priests were all very good mathematicians. The Maya developed zero, the Aztec developed aqueducts to carry fresh water, and the Olmec made water drains out of stone.
Th Olmec, Aztec, and Maya all used glyphs. They also all had calendars, that were very accurate for their time. The Olmec developed writing, the Maya developed books. The Olmec carved their writing into stone, while the Maya and Aztec wrote on animal skins.
The Aztec, Maya, and Olmec were all sculptors. They all had jade carvings, figurines, pottery, etc. The Maya used their gods in their artworks, The Olmec wove clothing and other accessories, and the Aztec played music with drums.
