Economy
The economy in the bahamas is stable and mostly based on tourism and off shore banking.Hotels and resorts are being built daily and most of the money for the hotels come from fishing in un-protedted areas and selling merchandise. Of the islands that make upthe bahamas most tourism is on Grand Bahama and Nassau. WILDLIFE
The bahamas is surrounded by miles of coral reefs and fishing sanctuaries. Manta ray's can be seen all year around. Dolphins, sharks, octopuses, swordfish, groupers, mahi mahi's, barricudas, sting ray's, puffer fish, tigerfish, star fish, crabs, lobster, glass eye fish, snake fish, bonefish, sea turtles and mauch more. Wild pigs and many birds can be seen also. Government
the government in the islands of the bahamas has a judicial branch, a legislative branch and an excecutive branch. the parliment members control the legislative branch. The senate controls all branches but the governer controls the senate. The senate consists of the prime minister and many cabinet members. The current prime minister is sir. Arther Foulkes. CULTURE and religion
the culture of the bahamas is what is known as a "melting pot."A melting pot is when all sorts of cultures get mixed together. Most of the natives in the bahamas where slaves on cotton farms in america. Most of the natives play a type of music called Junkanoo.junkanoo is played with goatskin drums, cow bells, tom tom drumsand bongo drums.Dancers dress in a traditional dress yous'd for junkanoo
The bahamas have been called "the christian country" because so many christian tourists go to the bahamas for vacation.Before television story telling and folklore was a traditional entertainment in many bahamas communities. the black represents the vigour and power of the people pointing toward the gold color wich represents the gold and sun. The blue represents the ocean that surrounds the bahamas islands. national flower
the national flower is the yellow elder.It was chosen as the national flower because it is native to the bahamas and it blooms through the year. Coat of arms

the islands are all flat and low , History
Around the 700's the Lucayans settled in one of the southern islands of the bahamas. they were still there when colombus arrived. colombus and the natives exchanged gifts but later in the 1000's the spanish took sllaves from the islands and soon the lucayans population was destroyed.
during the american revolution the bahamas fell into the hands of the spanish. the british american loyalist expedition then captured the island. the british than started taking slaves from other native groups. but soon the british left the islands. then during the civil war of america the confederecyset up a base on one of the bahamas islands. during world war 1 a group of smugglers smuggling rum into the U.S.A set up a base on one of the islands. during world war 2 the allies set up flight training and anti submarine training for the bahamas people who where on the allies side of course.
in the 1960's the bahamas started their government and tourism started. in 2004 hurricane france hit the bahamas. Today their are over 30 bahamas resorts on the islands. Food
The traditional food of the
first natives in the bahamas
is unkown because of all the
new cuisine introduced by
tourism and new animals and
plants being introduced to
the ecostystem. The food
ranges from suishi to pasta. tourist life
tourists come for a break or a vacation.So you cant expect much work as a tourist going to a Bahamas island. Native life
There are barely any natives on the major islands. Now on the smaller islands there are natives who fish and live in log cabon's. kids life
most kids in the Bahamas are kids of tourists can participate in many activities provided by whatever hotel theyre staying in. Imports
