By: Lizzy Poropat The Princess Bride The Ordinary World The Return with the Elixir Introduced as "Farm Boy"
He was an orphaned child looking for work
Lived in a hovel near the animals
Was pushed around by buttercup.

"The farm boy did what she told him to. Actually, he was more a young man now, but he had been a farm boy when, orphaned, he had come to work for her father, and Buttercup referred to him that way still. 'Farm boy, fetch me this': 'Get me that, Farm Boy - quickly, lazy thing, trot now or I'll tell father'" (Goldman 42). Westley leaves his Ordinary World when he leaves the farm to board his ship, The Queens Pride.
Westley's ship was attacked by the Dread Pirate Robert's ship The Revenge.
Once Westley's ship was attacked, word spread that all the passengers had been killed by the Dread Pirate Roberts.

"He did. His ship Revenge captured the ship I was on, The Queens Pride, and weer all to be put to death" (Goldman 208). Crossing The Threshold Builds up courage when he leads Buttercup through the fire swamp.
Large percentage of sulphur and other gas bubbles that burst continually into flames.

"Westley took her in his arms. 'Child; sweet child. I have a knife. I have my sword. I did not come across the world to lose you know.' Buttercup was searching somewhere for a sufficiency of courage. Evidently, she found it in his eyes" (Goldman 201). The Approach Buttercup and Westley, along with his allies, Fezzik and Inigo continue their journey home.
Westley hands over The Revenge to Inigo and he becomes the new Dread Pirate Roberts.
Westley now bares the elements of courage, sacrifice and true love. Written By: William Goldman
In 1973 Call To Adventure Buttercup confesses to Westley her love for him.
Westley knows he wants to be with Buttercup.
"'Do I love you? My God, if your love were a grain of said mine would be a universe of beaches'" (Goldman 63).

"I'm going to America. To seek my fortune... I've been training myself. In my hovel. I've taught myself not to need sleep... I'll save every penny from both except for what I need to eat to keep strong, and when I have enough I'll buy a farm and build a house and make a bed big enough for two" (Goldman 62). Refusal of the Call None! (Yet) Meeting With Mentor Westley mentors himself at first
Roberts keeps Westley as a passenger and trains him in hope that one day, he (Westley) will become the next Dread Pirate Roberts

"By the end of that year, of course, we were more than valet and master... By then, I had learned... a great deal about sailing and hand fighting and fencing and throwing the long knife and had never been in as excellent physical condition" (Goldman 210). Trial 1: The Cliffs of Insanity Trial 2: Inigo Trial 3: Fezzik Trial 4: Vizzini Test Allies and Enemies He becomes enemies with Inigo, Fezzik, and Vizzini as he defeats them in his journey to save Buttercup
Fezzik and Inigo become his allies later on in the book.
Prince Humperdink is one of Westley's enemies.

"Then he examined the man in black. A fine sailor, yes; a mighty climber, no question; courageous, without a doubt" (Goldman 145). "It was at that moment that the man in black began to climb. Not quickly, of course. And not without great effort. But still, there was no doubt that he was, in spirt of the sheerness of the Cliffs, heading in an upward direction" (Goldman 117). Spaniard

The Prince tells Count to take Wesley to the fifth level of the Zoo of Death.

"He had been bitten, cut, gone without rest, had assaulted the Cliffs of Insanity, had save and take lives. Had risked his world, and now it was walking away from him, hand i hand with a ruffian prince" (Goldman 218). The Resurrection Inigo finally gets the chance to duel the Count.
Westley's negative feelings toward the Prince are finally shown at a more complete level.

"...That is what 'to the pain' means. It means that I leave you to live in anguish, in humiliation, in freakish misery until you can stand it no more; so there you have it, pig, there you know, you miserable vomitous mass, and I say this now, and live or die, its up to you. Drop your sword" (Goldman 352)! The Refusal of the Call Inigo and Fezzik rescue Westley and take him to Miracle Max.
Miricle Max gives them a resurrection pill for Westley.
The pill brings Westley back to life for an hour so he is able to help in the rescue of Buttercup.
"'I want to die,' Westley whispered... Why didn't you leave me to death? This is worse. Lying here helpless while my true love marries my murderer'" (Goldman 331). The Reward The ReWard Westley, Fezzik, and Inigo crash the Wedding.
Westley saves Buttercup from killing herself.
Although the hero possesses his treasure, there is still the risk of it being taken from him. The Road Back As Buttercup, Fezzik, Inigo, and Westley try to escape, the Prince's army catches up to them and tries to stop the chase.
Buttercup lies to them about the Prince and the army falls for it
They are able to escape from the castle and head toward safety on the Dread Pirate Roberts ship.
