Money is any object or record that is generally accepted as payment for goods and services and repayment of debts in a given socio-economic context or country.
The word "money" is believed to originate from a temple of Hera, located on Capitoline, one of Rome's seven hills. In the ancient world Hera was often associated with money. The temple of Juno Moneta at Rome was the place where the mint of Ancient Rome was located.

How is money produced?
In contemporary world money is produced by the states. Specifically, FED(Federal Reserve System) is the institution which simply decides, when or how much money is printed and got into circulation etc.
The place where the money is printed called mint.
The oldest mint in Istanbul is in Topkapı Palace.
