METHOD OF PARTIAL QUOTIENT

First you put the number that is divided by in a type of box . then you put the number that you are dividing by out side the box .next you say what times a number gives me close or the the number . then you put in the out side the number you multiplyed by to get the answer you put it under the number that is divided by and you subtract . next you see if the answer is smaller or bigger than the number that is dividing .if it is bigger it means you need to keep going till you get a smaller answer than the number that is dividing . If it is smaller than the number that is dividing it means you are done.

**DEFINITIONS **

Divisor : The number that divides the dividend .

Quotient : the answer to a division problem.

Dividend : The number that is to be divided in a division problem.

Partial Quotient : A method of division .

prime number : a prime number is a number that only has 1 factor .

composite number: a composite number is a number that has more than 2 factors

then you find two numbers that you multiplyed by the quotient is the same number like a:5x10 . then if the number can be divided you can keep going with the factor tree. when the numbers that are the last can not have a number multiplyed that gives the same number like 5x2 gives you 10 . it cant get smaller you are done .
