Transcript of Microsoft
Originally my PLP was on Marvel comics but I eventually decided to change the idea due to the fact in which I knew to much about it. So then I decided to change Microsoft because it was a topic that I didn't know much about and it also interests me.
History of Microsoft
What Is Microsoft?
Apple: Created by Steve Jobs, Apple's best hardware products are the Mac personal computers, the iPhone, the iPad, the iPod and the recently new product the Apple Watch.
Who are the other competitors for Microsoft?
Microsoft is an american multinational technology company that develops licenses, manufactures, supports and sells computer software, consumer electronics and personal computers. It's main headquarters are located at Redmond, Washington. It's flagship hardware products are Xbox game consoles and the Microsoft Surface tablet lineup. It is also one of the world's largest software makers measured by revenues.
Google: Was founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin. Google specializes in internet-related services and products.
How much money does Microsoft earn each year?
Revenue- How much the buyer pays for the product
Profit- How much the seller earns from the buyer
How much is Microsoft worth?
Currently right now Microsoft's worth is about 354.15 billion dollars meaning that they are the 2nd in the world and coming in at first place is Apple at 650.11 billion dollars.
Who gets more money out of Microsoft: Bill Gates or Paul Allen?
The answer would be Bill Gates because Paul Allen had also worked for the people who made the Altair 88OO. This meant that Gates needed a bigger share of the profit due to the fact that Paul Allen had to work part time.
The Xbox is a video game console created by Microsoft and released on November 15 in 2001. This was Microsoft's fist move in the gaming console market. What you can get when you buy an Xbox include console, a controller and kinect so that you can do voice commands and also use it for games. The current console is the Xbox One
In November 2002 Microsoft launched something called Xbox Live, a paid online gaming service that allows players to download new content and interact with other players through a broadband connection.
Bill Gates is an American businessman, inventor, computer programer, investor and philanthropist. He was born on October the 28th in 1955 Seattle, Washington, United States. He is famous for not only being the most wealthiest person in the world, but he also co-founded Microsoft too. In 1975 Bill Gates and Paul Allen created the company known as Microsoft. In 1985 Gates launched program called windows.
Paul Allen was born in 1953 on January the 21st in Seattle, Washington, United States. He is estimated to be the 51st wealthiest person in the world. He co-founded the company Microsoft alongside with Bill Gates, together they made a good team to come up with some amazing products for their company. Over time their hard work paid off because now their company is one of the leading computer programming companies.
Microsoft Word is a is a computer software application that is capable of editing, formatting, saving and printing documents. It was first released in 1983 and created by Charles Simonyi and Richard Brodie. It's original name was multi-tool word but they soon decided to change it. Microsoft Word is now the most used word processor in the world and is one of Microsoft's best inventions.
I enjoyed doing my PLP on Microsoft because it was very interesting to research and find out some facts and information about a company I knew so little about. There was nothing really that I did not enjoy about the project. The only problem I had throughout this project was just being stuck and having no clue on what to do or research but after some hard thinking I managed to figure out on what to do. I think I used my time quite efficiently considering the fact that I managed to hand in my project on time. I don't think I fully achieved my goal because I didn't read much of the rubric so I might have left some things out of my PLP. What I found most challenging was probably being stuck like I had said before. Something new I've learnt was how to deal the problems that arose. Overall I think I chose a better topic for my PLP than last year.
Microsoft was first released on April 4th 1975, when it was created by Bill Gates and Paul Allen in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The idea that would go on to become known as Microsoft started when Paul Allen showed Bill Gates an issue of Popular Electronics that demonstrated the Altair 88OO ,a microcomputer designed in 1974. Gates and Allen saw a potential to develop a plan of the programming language BASIC for the system.
Bill Gates called the creators of the new microcomputer, MITS(Micro Instrumentation and Telemetry Systems), offering to demonstrate their plan in order to win a contract with the company. Allen and Gates had neither an interpreter nor an Altair system, yet in the eight weeks before the demo they developed an interpreter. When Allen flew to Albuquerque, New Mexico to meet with MITS, the interpreter worked and MITS agreed to distribute Altair BASIC. Both men decided to move to Albuquerque where MITS was located, and co-founded Microsoft there.
Eventually they would go on to create Microsoft Word in 1983 which was a graphical word processing program that users can type with. The main purpose of Microsoft Word is that people can type and save their documents.
