What is HTS?

IPDE Process
Identify - zones, clues, users, roadway
features and conditions, and traffic controls.
Know your surroundings!!

The ZONE CONTROL SYSTEM helps make
quick and accurate identifications.
Predict - predicting changes in zones
and looking for an "out" in an emergency
situation.
Watch other roadway users because you are in
control of your vehicle and the consequences of
your actions.
Decide - after you identify and predict what
is going to happen.
Examples: communicating with other roadway
users, maintaining or changing and/or direction.
Execute - carrying out an action that you have
decided.
You will use your vehicle controls and safety
devices.
Collision or Accident?
COLLISION
Defined as contact between 2 or more objects.

DRIVER ERROR is the main cause of collisions
and there are many reasons that they happen.
ACCIDENT
Happens by chance.
Being a responsible and defensive driver reduces
your risk of a collision.
