Problems Training In 1907, the first a few breeders founded the first breed club Farm dog for guarding property and driving cattle Thick double coat Sheds year round Tri-color coat (black, rust and white) Ears must be cleaned often- they trap bacteria, dirt, and liquid Very muscular Strong legs Groom coat daily to prevent matted hair Docile Good natured Outdoor dog at heart Not a high-energy dog Enjoy walking, jogging or just playing with their people Cancer is the leading cause of death Arthritis, hip dysplasia, and cruciate ligament rupture are other major health issues Life expectancy about 10 years Must be well exercised daily From the Swiss Mountains Talents include tracking, herding, watch, guarding, search and rescue, carting, and competitive obedience.
