Training Sessions and Requirements GLD 2013: The path to Graduation Starting Out: What to Expect GLD participants attend a series of trainings and complete
monthly tasks to apply their skill.

Each task requires documentation submitted to the
sponsoring organization and the Alabama Organizing Project
coordinator.

Trainees may miss only one training or 10 hours
to graduate.
Learn from members of the media working in radio,
television, newspapers and online media.
Build skills for communicating your goals and ideas.

January 11-13
Montgomery Explore the history of Alabama activism
Develop skills to confront oppression
Understand and confront internalized oppression Task: know your officials Identify local, state and national officials
Fill out forms in binder
Submit to organizer by FEBRUARY 16 Task: Interview A community leader Using letters and sample questions in binder, interview a leader in your community.
Fill out report form in binder.
Submit to organizer by FEBRUARY 16 Task: Identify a Role Model Identify a role model in your work making Alabama better.
Share with the group on FEBRUARY 16 Learn about pressing issues facing Alabama, including child care,
immigration reform and public transportation.
Report on your interview and share your role model.
