they were executed. John F Kennedy pledged
to strengthen American
military and keep away from
communism. Harry Truman was the
first American president
to fight the Cold War. Joseph Stalin was a
communist dictator
that lead Russia. Richard Nixon tried to patch
up relations between the U.S,
USSR and China. He was most
known for the Watergate scandal. Definitions The Warsaw Pact - knowns as the Warsaw Treaty Organization, was an alliance creating an organised and Russian dominated military among central and political ties. War Domino Theory - the US believed
that if they let a big country go to comunism
then all of the little ones would go too. The race to the moon was between the US and Russia. Sputnik was first man made
object to be placed in an
earth orbit.
McCarthyism - the political action of making accusations of disloyalty, subversion, or treason without proper regard for evidence. Joseph McCarthy lied and scared people by claiming that certain people were communists so they would be arrested. the United Nations - place where the
leaders of many different nations would
come together and talk about achieving
many things. The Korean war was North Korean
against South Korean with the US
helping the South. Vietnam War was the US
against Vietnam because
they still wanted to be
communists. Winston Churchhill was known
as the Cold War "peace maker". Technology InterContinental Balistic Missles were a new range of weaponary that both the United States and The Soviet Union were developed. Project Apollo was used to go to the moon and to further knowledge about the moon. The Manhattan Project was a code name for an Atom Bomb that the US was working on. Vladimir Lenin was a communist that influenced Joseph Stalin. Blacklisted - when you were bad named as a communist. Nobody wanted to give you a job, rent you apartments, and everyone was really rude to you. Dwight Eisenhower Sent the US military to Vietnam in 1955. Duck and Cover was a 1951 children's film explaining what to do when an Atomic Bomb would happen. Culture James Bond first appeared in a 1954; the films were loosely connected to the Cold War. The film portrays a fictional nuclear war between NATO forces and the Warsaw Pact that rapidly escalates into a full scale exchange between the United States and the Soviet Union. Chiang Kai-shek was a Chinese Nationalist leader.
