Shoulder pads would made you look sophisticated, until people would wear them with big t-shirts.
Over sized shirts look like huge dresses and would sag by your sleeves and was supposed to feel comfy.
Huge earrings made you feel like your ears were sagging. Huge geometric shapes were dangling from your ears.
Robot sunglasses looked like clear headbands with colorful rims.
Jelly shoes were like rubber flats, but a little harder.
If you wanted to fit-in in the 80's, you had to have the right hair-do. Okay, first it started on the back of your head, then moved to the top of your head, and now it is on the side.
1980's were big, bold, and bright! The 80's were all about making a statement. You always had to be loud.
Four Finger Rings
They covered all of your fingers but the thumb. It was usually hard to write or maneuver your fingers.
During this time the fashion was a little messy, yet feminine, loud but chic. Some elements to make these styles were handmade fringes, patch work, beading, and tiny mirrors. Bo-ho chic was mostly loose and flowing garments with a mix of colors and prints, often with layers.
From 1990-1999, women wore aerobic leggings and stir-ups in bright florescent colors, blue jeans with matching denim jackets in acid wash, baby doll dresses, over- sized
T-Shirts, and sweatshirts and sweaters, with slouch socks over high-tops and Keds.
Some people today think of the 80's as the time of "bright, out of style clothing." But they don't know most people today wear the hipster, boho-chic look.
When the 80's were over, people started to trash the bright fashion and put it to an end.
Fashion Time Periods
From the 60's to the 80's people, especially the women, were into tie-dye, bell bottoms, and huge hair. In the mid 60's, it was all peace signs and tie-dye clothing.
Today people wear skinny jeans, leggings, jeggings, shorts over tights, and collar-buttoned down tops.
The main idea is to show the popular
clothing of each time period. There were many different trends throughout the 20th and 21st century thus far.
Somewhere between the 60's and the 80's the mini skirt was trending. Some people today wear these old fashions.
Why didn't this time have the least colored fashion choice?
Why did they chose the colorful style?
Why did they choose tie-dye?
Nowadays youth mostly wear UGG boots. From the sagging boots, the fluffy, buttoned-down boots, to the classic fluffy brown boots.
Comparing now and then
Go-go boots were low heeled rubbery boots created in 1962.
