The Massive Mt.Nyamuragira This massive mountain has erupted at least 44 times. Most of these eruptions are hazardous. Mt.Nyamuragira is also called Nyamlagira. Africa's most active volcano is this big beast. The mountain is a High-potassium Basaltic shield volcano. Almost every two years it erupts. From those eruptions come potassium-rich and low-silicate lava. This mountain is found near DR.Congo(Democratic Republic), Africa. It is found in the Virunga mountains. Location The lava What is Mt.Nyamuragira? Mt.Nyamuragira sits on a hot spot. Stop at 0:30 Before this volcano erupts, it creates a lava pool almost to the brim. Then when it starts erupting like a hose. (Lava pool picture in second slide). The volcanoes perimeter and surroundings. This volcanoes summit has a two kilometer in diameter caldera. Its caldera is about one-hundred miles deep into the ground. The closest volcano to Mt.Nyamuragira is Mt.Karisimbi. Its distance away from this volcano is fourteen thousand and seven hundred and eighty seven miles away from it. This is Mt.Karisimbi Eruptions There is about forty-four eruptions so far. When Mt.Nyamuragira first erupted was 1894. Throughout 2011 it kept erupting and it is not done yet. The most devastating eruption was in 2011. It was so big that it was the largest eruption in the world for the century.
