First Line Of The Book
"Late in the winter of my seventeenth year, my mother decided I was depressed, presumably because I rarely left the house, spent quite a lot of time in bed, read the same book over and over, ate infrequently, and devoted quite a bit of my abundant free time of thinking about death."
Favorite Quote
Metaphor
Augustus often holds an unlit cigarette in his mouth. It is a metaphor because he puts the thing killing him right between his lips, but without lighting it, he does not give it the power of killing him.
"That's the thing about pain," Augustus said, and then glanced back at me. "It demands to be felt."

Significant Event
The most important event in this book is when Hazel Grace meets Augustus Waters. He is the first love of her life and she isn't afraid to be herself around him. Augustus is the first person she is really concerned about losing.
Recommendation
I loved this quick read romantic fiction book. It really made me realize how fortunate I am to be healthy. Although I really enjoyed this book, it was a little predictable. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romantic love stories.
"Whenever you read a cancer booklet or website or whatever, they always list depression among the side effects of cancer. But, in fact, depression is not a side effect of cancer."
