Doors The door to a house is used to let people in and out. Houses Like an animal cell, homes are also organized and many things in a house are used for certain things. Animal Cell All organisms are made up of cells. Protists, fungi, plants, and animals have animal cells. Cell Membrane Mailbox Golgi Apparatus The Golgi Apparatus is an organelle made up of flattened sacs that modifies, sorts, and ships proteins. A House Compared to a Cell The cell membrane protects the inside of the cell and allows certain things to come in and out. A mailboxes job is to send letters or information to other people or businesses. Carpets Carpets are the empty regions on the floor. Usually in the living room or in rooms. Cytoplasm Cytoplasm is the region between the nucleus and the cell membrane. It's 70% water, and 30% proteins, fats, carbohydrates, nucleic acids, and ions. Cabinets Cabinets separate and organize things in the kitchen. For example, canned food, dishes, cups, etc. Centrioles Centrioles organize chromosomes during the cell division. They are only found in animal cells. Moving Boxes Endoplasmic Reticulum Endoplasmic Reticulum packs things and then transports things within the cell. Moving boxes are used for when a family puts all of their stuff in the box to help them move. It's a place for storage and help of transportation. Lights Lights in a house provide light. Nucleolus The nucleolus is where the ribosomes begin. Lysosome Lysosomes are a bag of enzymes that can digest many classes of macromolecules. Ribosomes Ribosomes are an organelle which is a site for protein synthesis. It is attached to endoplasmic reticulum or it can be floating around. It is the small factories of the cell. Mitochondria The mitochondria is the organelle that is the site of cellular respiration. It makes the energy by breaking down sugars using oxygen. Recycling Bins Recycling bins help the environment to recycle used paper, bottles, and cardboard. You can reuse them over again by recycling. Parents Your parents go to work everyday to make money.
