Transcript of The Soccer War

also known as the 100 hour War. Soccer War Location. It was located in El salvador and Honduras. The Years that did occur. Ocurred in July 14, 1969 - July 18, 1969 Contries that where involved. The countries that were involved are El Salvador and Honduras. What started this war was a soccer game between El Salvador and Honduras. They were fighting for political conflicts between Hondurans and Salvadorans, namely issues concerning immigration from El Salvador to Honduras. These existing tensions between the two countries coincided with the inflamed rioting during the second North American qualifying round of the 1970 FIFA World Cup. During the conflict, approximately 250 Honduran soldiers were killed as well as around 2,000 civilians. Combined Salvadoran casualties numbered around 2,000. none of the countries won. The outcome was that they signed a Status quo ante bellum this means"the state existing before the war".ter Bad blood continued across the border until, in 2006, the countries' presidents agreed on a frontier and shook hands across it. This countries are affected today when they have to play agains each other because they always remenber that what started the war was a football game . vs Yessenia ventura
