Stolen Identity: reclaiming our identity in Christ
Transcript of Stolen Identity: reclaiming our identity in Christ
The fact of being who or what a person is.
ID: Stolen by Satan
Satan has us defining our identity in the world rather than in Christ
Pressures, Status, Goals, Morals, Success
Identity Impacts Everything
Who you are impacts your view of success and how you define right and wrong.
Identity in Christ
Christ died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised. From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.--2 Corinthians 5:15-21

Through faith in Christ we are worthy of Heaven.
No Longer Enslaved By Sin
No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other.--Mathew 6:24
Identity: Freed Image Bearer
Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness".
Being Christ-Like: Bearing God's Image

Willingness to sacrifice
Going beyond comparisons
Audience of one
Doing all things for the glory of God
So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.--Philippians 2:1-11
