Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH
First Quote

“ It’s I who should be thanking you,” said the crow.
“You saved my life.”
“ And you mine.” said Mrs. Frisby
(p. 25)

Second Quote

“ You forget” Mrs. Frisby said, “I’m Timothy’s mother. If you, and Arthur, and others in your group can take risks to save him, surely i can, too. And consider this: I don’t want any of you to be hurt- maybe even killed by Dragon. BUt even more, I don’t want the attempt to fail. Perhaps the worst that will happen to you, with luck is that you will have to scatter and run, and leave my house unmoved. But then what will happen to us? Timothy, at least, will die. So if there is no one else to put the cat asleep, I must do it.”(p. 95)

My theme for Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH is sacrifice. Mrs. Frisby sacrificed her life for her son timothy and for the Rats.
Third Quote

“ I heard the others running past me. I couldn’t see them. It was darker than night. Then one of them ran into me, and stopped. He pulled me up, and I tried to run again. But I was too dizzy. I kept falling. The other one helped me up again, and I went a few steps more. He kept pulling me, and then pushing, and some how, finally, I got to the end of the tunnel. I saw daylight, and there; I thought the others must have left. So I ran a little farther, and that’s all I remember.(p. 226)

Mrs. Frisby is stating that she has to go and do this for Timothy and the Rats.

Mrs. Frisby helped a crow who was tied to a string
and the crow saved her life from the cat. That really shows that Mrs. Frisby is a caring person and puts people first and not her.

This mouse who saved Brutus was
really brave because
he went back in there to
get more people but he never came out.

Article Connection
Many soldiers sacrificed their lives for us and America. This is related to my theme because Mrs. Frisby sacrifices her life for the rats by feeding Dragon the powder.
