Transcript of Zaha Hadid
Zaha Hadid is a critically acclaimed architect who has been dubbed "the queen of contempary iconic architecture." She is, without a doubt, the greatest female architect. Her works are nothing short of genius, and she is constantly pushing the boundaries of architecture and urban design. She is 63 years old, and was born on the 31st of October, 1950, in Baghdad, Iraq.
Zaha Hadid was born in Baghdad, Iraq. Firstly, she studied at the American University of Beirut. After she retained her degree in mathematics, she went abroad for her studies in 1972, attending the Architectural Association School of Architecture. Upon graduation, in 1977, Zaha Hadid joined the Office of Metropolitan Architecture, and also taught at the Architectural Association. Shortl after, Hadid began her own practice in 1980, and won the pretigious competition for the Hong Kong Peak Club. Ever since her exhibition in AA in 1983, her works have been displayed worldwide.
Zaha Hadid is very well known for multiple architectural works, including MAXXI - National Museum of the 21st Century Arts, 2022 FIFA World Cup Stadium in Qatar, Japan National Stadium, Contempary Arts Centre, and many more. She recieved the Priztker Architecture Prize in 2004, the first woman to ever do so, and in 2010 and 2011 won the Stirling Prize. Her buildings have been called neofuturistic, utopian, and vibrant and engaging. She has created over a thousand projects.
Famous Architectural Works
Zaha Hadid, in 2004, became the first woman to be named in the 26 history of this prize. She was 53 years old when she was named the Pritzker Prize winner. She has been acknowledged as one of greatest architects of the dawning twenty first century. She was one of the youngest award winners at the time. As Bill Lacy said, “Only rarely does an architect emerge with a philosophy and approach to the art form that influences the direction of the entire field. Such an architect is Zaha Hadid who has patiently created and refined a vocabulary that sets new boundaries for the art of architecture.
