Kevin Durant was born on September 29, 1988
He was born in Washington D.C
but was raised in Suitland, Maryland.
raised by his mother Wanda Pratt (Mama Durant), father Wayne Pratt & grandmother Barbara Davis.
At the end of his high school senior year, he was named the Washington Post' All Met Basketball Player of the Year.
As well as MVP of the 2006 McDonald's All American Game.
He was widely recognized as the second-best high school prospect of 2006.
KD was one of four children, who grew up loving the sport of basketball with his sister Brianna & brother Anothony.
Started off his love for basketball with the PG Jaguars , a youth basketball league in Maryland.

he graduated high school from Montrose Christian in Rockyville, Maryland.
Life as a Seattle Supersonic:
Kevin Durant was blessed to be drafted to the NBA Seattle Supersonics in 2007. in the 1st round, (2nd pick & 2nd overall.)
He played with the Supersonics from 2007-2008.
while still being considered a rookie of the NBA; on october 31st, of the following season he made his professional debut with an 18 point, 5 rebound, and 3 steal game performance.
on November 16, 2007: he made the first game-winning shot of his career in a game against the Atlanta Hawks.
At the end of his 2007-08 season he was named the Rookie of the Year with an average of 20.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1 steal per game.

Durant received offers from top D1 schools all across the country

He turned down the offer to play with The University Of North Carolina Tar Heels

Instead Durant decided to join The University of Texas Longhorns

He started in every game as a freshman.
His freshman season he averaged an amazing 25.8 points per game
at the end of his freshman season he received the "Oscar Robertson" and the "Adolf F. Rupp" awards, and was the FIRST freshman to win both honors
Why the number 35?
Kevin Durant wears the number 35 because it was how old his first basketball coach, Charles Craig, was when he got shot and killed.

Him & Charles where extremely close and the murder took a big toll on is life.
They’d go to basketball games and to the movies. When Durant needed pocket money or a meal, Craig was always there.
"I just want as many people as I can to know why I wear it and the significance of the number,” Durant said. "That’s my goal is to get him out there and keep his name alive.

To this day, KD wears the no. 35 in remembrance of his first basketball coach, "Big Chunky" who was murdered at the age of 35.

At the 2009 NBA All-Star Weekend, Durant set a Rookie Challenge record with 46 points.
By the end of the year, he had raised his scoring average by five points from the prior season to 25.3 PPG,
and was considered a strong candidate for the Most Improved Player Award, eventually finishing third in the voting
during the 09-10 season Durant was selected to his first All-Star Game.
With a scoring average of 30.1 points per game, he became the youngest-ever NBA scoring champion and was selected to his first All-NBA team
In his playoff debut, he scored 24 points in a Game 1 loss against the Los Angeles Lakers
2010-2011 Season:
Prior to the start of the 2010–11 season, Durant announced via Twitter that he had signed a five year contract extension with the Thunder worth approximately $86 million.

"Extension for 5 more years with the Thunder....God Is Great, me and my family came a long way...I love yall man for real, this a blessing!," Durant tweeted.
For the second season in a row Kevin led the NBA in scoring, averaging 27.7 points a game
Durant has a 7'4 wingspan that allows him to perfectly get his shot off whenever he needs to, even when being closely guarded.
On february 19th KD recorded his first career 50 point game, scoring 51 points against the Denver Nuggets.
In the 2012 Finals playing against the Miami Heat Durant led all players with 30.6 points per game, doing so with a 54.8 shooting rate
MVP Season: (2013-2014)
Durant averaged 35.9 points per game while scoring 30-plus points in 12 straight games, including a career-high 54 points against the Golden State Warriors
Near the end of the year, Durant surpassed Michael Jordan's record for most consecutive games scoring at least 25 points with 41
With final averages of 32 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game, Durant lead the NBA in scoring for a fourth time and was named the league's Most Valuable Player
